Why Expressive Arts?
Nonverbal Communication: The arts offer a nonverbal means of communication when stress and trauma are present.
Stress Reduction: Active engagement in the arts engages so much of the brain that it crowds out stress and enables the upper brain functions.
Resilience: The arts are not only capable of reducing negative emotions but are also uniquely capable of enhancing positive ones. We build agency and resilience in the discovery of something we can do to feel better.
